Introduction: Nowadays, knowledge sharing has become a source of gaining competitive advantage. The purpose of this paper is the identification and authentication of factors influencing intra-organizational knowledge sharing as well as proposing a model of knowledge sharing among faculty members engaged in medicine in universities and research centers.
Methods : The present study was based on mixed method and applied research which was conducted in 2012. The study population constituted 423 faculty members of medical universities and research centers in Iran selected by means of stratified sampling. Structural equation modeling was used for the model and the data were analyzed using software Spss15 and Amos Graphics .
Results: According to the statistical results, among the three factors under study, only the impact of the organizational factors on knowledge sharing was found to be meaningful .
Discussion: In the study, the model of intra-organizational knowledge sharing based on the quantitative results of a given questionnaire and some suggestions for improving the knowledge sharing and implementation of educational and research organizations for future research are presented . The results of this study will provide empirical basis for planning and implementing knowledge sharing mechanisms.
