Introduction: Previous studies have paid more attention to the technical aspects of the interaction of users with the web-based scientific information, but somehow ignored the cultural-behavioral elements. This study aimed to identify the effects of cultural-behavioral elements on the interaction of faculty members of Management and Medical Information Science School with web-based scientific information. Methods: This is had an applied qualitative-descriptive study the data collection tool were a non-structured interviews, and an interview-based questionnaire. The population consisted of all faculty members of the Management and Medical Information Science School in Iran University of Medical Sciences.
Results: The research revealed the participants in the study are faced with some difficulties in their interaction with the Web-based information resources. In spite of the early assumptions, the results showed the main reasons of these difficulties come back to the cultural-behavioral elements rather than the technical aspects of this interaction. Among 24 identified cultural-behavioral elements, 21 elements were reported with negative effect and only 3 elements were perceived positive by the participants while their interaction with the web-based resources. Conclusion: This research showed that cultural-behavioral elements not only are important but also they could play a vital role in using the technical facilities in the interaction of users with web-based resources.
