Abstract

  Introduction: Nowadays, knowledge sharing has become a source of gaining competitive advantage. The purpose of this paper is the identification and authentication of factors influencing intra-organizational knowledge sharing as well as proposing a model of knowledge sharing among faculty members engaged in medicine in universities and research centers.

  Methods : The present study was based on mixed method and applied research which was conducted in 2012. The study population constituted 423 faculty members of medical universities and research centers in Iran selected by means of stratified sampling. Structural equation modeling was used for the model and the data were analyzed using software Spss15 and Amos Graphics .

  Results: According to the statistical results, among the three factors under study, only the impact of the organizational factors on knowledge sharing was found to be meaningful .

  Discussion: In the study, the model of intra-organizational knowledge sharing based on the quantitative results of a given questionnaire and some suggestions for improving the knowledge sharing and implementation of educational and research organizations for future research are presented . The results of this study will provide empirical basis for planning and implementing knowledge sharing mechanisms.

Abstract

Introduction: Effective sharing of knowledge among faculty members is one of the most important prerequisites fo quality in science and research. The purpose of this paper was to examine the organizational factors influencing knowledge sharing (including culture, structure, leadership and strategy) among faculty members in the field of medicine.
 Methods: The present study was based on mixed method and applied research which was conducted in 2012. The study population constituted 423 faculty members of medical universities and research centers in Iran selected by means of stratified sampling using a questionnaire , the face and content validity of which were confirmed bythe experts. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for each scale dimension was more than 0.8 thus, the reliability of the instrument was confirmed. For data analysis, statistical software SPSS15, using Pearson Correlation Coefficient was used.
Results:
According to the statistical results, . About 13 percent of faculty members perceived the condition of organizational culture favorable and only 6 percent of them evaluated the condition of knowledge sharing appropriate. 16 percent of faculties evaluated leadership and about 12 percent evaluated organizational strategies appropriate. There was a significant relationship between organizational factors and intra- (P value=0.527) and inter- (Pvalue=0.488) organizational knowledge sharing.
Conclusion:
Due to the importance of organizational factors in educational and research centers, it is recommended that knowledge management in general and knowledge sharing in specific be taken into consideration with a particular attention to the various aspects of this issue from different dimensions in organizations

Abstract

Introduction: Knowledge sharing is the mechanisms that contribute to the dissemination and application of knowledge, will help employees to fulfill their job duties. This mechanism can be affected by many individual and organizational factors. In this regard the aim of this study was Offer the causal model of abusive supervision, perception of organizational justice and knowledge sharing behavior among Shiraz University of Medical Sciences.

Methods: the method of this study was descriptive - correlational with use of structural equation model. The sample includes 215 employees of Shiraz Medical Sciences University that they were selected among the approximately 700 employees with using random sampling. The research instrument were measurement of abusive supervision, knowledge sharing behavior and perception of organizational justice that using the Spearman correlation coefficient, validity and using Cranach’s alpha coefficient, reliability was calculated and the results showed that the questionnaires had good reliability and validity.

Results: The results showed that abusive supervision has a significant negative impact on perception of organizational justice and knowledge sharing behavior of employees and the perception of organizational justice doesn’t have a mediation role in the relationship between abusive supervision and employees' knowledge sharing behavior.

Conclusion: the managers of health organizations to increase knowledge sharing between their employees must take care of their supervisory actions and by avoiding abuses of their supervisory duties, increased knowledge sharing and success of their organization.

Abstract

Introduction: Effective knowledge-sharing among faculty members is one of the requirements for scientific competence and improvement of research quality in universities. This study aimed to identify and rank the key factors influencing knowledge sharing in order to help managers and policy makers take corrective actions.
Methods: The instrument used for data collection in this descriptive-applied study consisted of three questionnaires developed based on multicriteria decision-making techniques used in this study. The questionnaires were completed by ten faculty members at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences with at least five years of work experience.  The collected data were analyzed using Super Decision software.
Results: The most effective factors influencing knowledge sharing were found to be trust, organizational culture, and communication where as organizational structure and technology were considered to be the least effective factors. 
Conclusion: In general, it can be said that interpersonal and soft factors such as organizational culture, compared with hard factors like organizational structure and IT, have greater impact on knowledge sharing among faculty members of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences.
