Abstract

This paper is the result of a research by which the level of observance of standards in medical records' section of hospitals managed by social security fund in Tehran, Iran is assessed based on evaluation criteria of American Medical Record Association and also based on national evaluation criteria. It is descriptive study and data are collected by questionnaires, check lists, interviews and observations. Data are analyzed by descriptive statistics. The results of this study indicated that the level of observance of standards in medical records' section in investigated hospital in 1997 has been 34.1% based on evaluation criteria of American Medical Record Association and 59.7% according to the national evaluation criteria. Finally, in order to evaluate the medical records' section in healthcare centers, a plan is presented including 10 separate questionnaires containing the sum total of 1129 questions.
