مقدمه: شبکه‌های اجتماعی علمی در دهه اخیر ارتباطات علمی دانشجویان و اعضای هیئت‌علمی دانشگاه را تحت تأثیر خود قرار داده است. هدف از مطالعه حاضر تعیین نقش شبکه‌های اجتماعی در ارتباطات علمی دانشجویان و اعضای هیئت‌علمی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی ایران بود.
روش ها: مطالعه حاضر از نوع کاربردی بود که با روش توصیفی-پیمایشی انجام‌شده است. جامعه پژوهش شامل دانشجویان تحصیلات تکمیلی و اعضای هیئت‌علمی دانشگاه علوم پزشکی ایران بودند که با روش نمونه‌گیری تصادفی طبقه‌ای، 450 نفر انتخاب شدند. ابزار گردآوری داده پرسشنامه بود. شش نفر از اعضای هیئت‌علمی دانشگاه روایی پرسشنامه را بررسی کردند و آلفای کرونباخ محاسبه‌شده برای پایایی پرسشنامه برابر 96/0 بود. یافته‌ها با استفاده از نرم‌افزار SPSS نسخه 19، تحلیل شدند.
یافته ها: ابعاد جستجوی اطلاعات با میانگین 59/3 و انتشار و اشتراک اطلاعات با میانگین 38/3، از مهم‌ترین مزایای استفاده از شبکه‌های اجتماعی علمی در ارتباطات علمی بود. همچنین، عدم برگزاری کارگاه‌های آموزشی در دانشگاه به‌منظور استفاده کارآمدتر از شبکه‌های اجتماعی علمی مهم‌ترین عامل بازدارنده در استفاده از این شبکه‌ها بود. آزمون فرضیات پژوهش نیز نشان داد بین ابعاد ارتباطات علمی و میزان استفاده دو گروه دانشجویان و اعضای هیئت‌علمی از شبکه‌های اجتماعی علمی تفاوت آماری معنی‌داری وجود دارد. به‌طوری‌که میانگین نمره همکاری‌های پژوهشی، ایده یابی پژوهشی و جستجوی اطلاعات در بین دانشجویان بیشتر از اعضای هیئت‌علمی بود. بین میزان استفاده از شبکه‌های اجتماعی با مدرک تحصیلی و سن پاسخگویان ارتباط آماری معنی‌داری وجود نداشت.
نتیجه‌گیری: ازآنجاکه استفاده از شبکه‌های اجتماعی علمی در ارتباطات علمی کاربران مؤثر بوده است؛ با برگزاری کارگاه‌های آموزشی در خصوص معرفی قابلیت‌های این شبکه‌ها می‌تواند به افزایش بهره‌وری مؤثر از این شبکه‌ها در همه ابعاد ارتباطات علمی کمک نماید.
