@article{ author = {Salmanzadeh, H}, title = {Efficiency of hospitals: viewpoints of managers of training and treatment centers in Iran University of Medical Sciences}, abstract ={Hospitals as leading centers in providing therapeutic and health care services in the country, endeavor to improve the health of individuals, restore health of patients in need and do scientific and efficient management in all levels. Based on it, this research has been conducted to determine the most effective factors in increasing the efficiency of hospitals from the viewpoints of managers in training and treatment centers of Iran University of Medical Sciences in 1999. These effective factors are analytically-descriptively studied in this research. In order to collect data, a questionnaire was complied related with the aim of study in which the viewpoints of 13 managers of training and treatment centers of university about the effective factors were questioned. The results show that the most effective index in increasing the efficiency is the average of hospitalization (69.2%). Managers have mentioned stop in accepting patients (84.6%) the most effective factor in reducing bed turnover rate, and the most effective factors in reducing the costs are mentioned the reduction in the costs of educational courses (61.5%) for the staff, decision making, proper management and continuous control. Managers also believe that the effect of activities in equipment maintenance committee and medical records committee in the analysis of performance indexes are extraordinarily high (84.6%). They have also mentioned that the most important barrier in the increase of efficiency of hospitals is the lack of experience in the management.}, Keywords = {efficiency, hospitals, managers}, volume = {3}, Number = {7}, pages = {1-5}, publisher = {Iran University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://jha.iums.ac.ir/article-1-218-en.html}, eprint = {http://jha.iums.ac.ir/article-1-218-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Health Administration}, issn = {2008-1200}, eissn = {2008-1219}, year = {2000} } @article{ author = {Hatam, N}, title = {Measuring efficiency of public hospitals of Iran social security fund: the method of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA)}, abstract ={A lack of resources in health economics is the most important factor in attending efficacy and appropriate use of facilities available with a required output in all management areas of health and treatment. Among them, hospitals as one of the most costly sections in healthcare sector devote a large portion of Gross Domestic Product to themselves and need great attention. Doing some actions to prevent or reduce destroying resources, devoted to this sector of health care in order to provide more services, develop, access and improve the quality of hospital services, necessitates some comparisons on the ratio of outputs to inputs to improve the efficiency and usefulness of hospitals. In most of studies on hospital efficiency, the method of analysis of ratios is used. The level of efficiency is showed by a fraction its numerator will be output and the denominator will be input. As this method is used to measure the efficiency between one input and one output, it has some limitations when used with several inputs and outputs. In hospital, several inputs and outputs exist simultaneously, so the use of this method is lonely not responding.}, Keywords = {hospital efficiency, data enhancement analysis (DEA) }, volume = {3}, Number = {7}, pages = {6-19}, publisher = {Iran University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://jha.iums.ac.ir/article-1-219-en.html}, eprint = {http://jha.iums.ac.ir/article-1-219-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Health Administration}, issn = {2008-1200}, eissn = {2008-1219}, year = {2000} } @article{ author = {Zohour, AR and Rouzbehani, V}, title = {Employment status of graduates in medical records in Iran and Shahid Beheshti medical universities (1999)}, abstract ={This cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the employment status of graduates of medical records in 1999. It is a descriptive study and data are collected using questionnaires distributed among respondents and also via the presence of researcher among respondents. Data were analyzed by different tables. Subjects of study were graduates of Kardani (who had passed two years of higher education) and bachelors employed in training and treatment centers. Subjects were 51. The results of study showed that: 1. Most individuals were moderately aware of their occupations at first (64%) and increased their awareness after some experiences in their occupations (94%). This increase displays that trainings during educational period is very important, and that trainings must be more rich and informative. 2. Most respondents stipulated that for the courses they have passed, they did not have suitable curriculum resource (59%), so there must be an endeavor to supply these resources. 3. Some of the courses were highly efficient and should be more developed and informative. These courses are: physiology and anatomy, general medicine, medical records, pharmacy, medical expressions, encoding in patients, and apprenticeship}, Keywords = {efficacy level, university education}, volume = {3}, Number = {7}, pages = {25-32}, publisher = {Iran University of Medical Sciences}, url = {http://jha.iums.ac.ir/article-1-222-en.html}, eprint = {http://jha.iums.ac.ir/article-1-222-en.pdf}, journal = {Journal of Health Administration}, issn = {2008-1200}, eissn = {2008-1219}, year = {2000} }
