Therefore, quality improvement of this center needed prompt medical attention. This study has been carried out by descriptive analysis to assess the performance of ten emergency departments in teaching hospitals affiliated with Tabriz university of medical sciences and Urimia university of medical sciences. All departments were evaluated and compared based on Structure, process and performance standards. All information were obtained by direct attending in emergency departments using questioners based on standards, interview, and observations and analyzed by statistic methods. Based on above mentioned parameters and in comparison with ministery of health and medical education's standards, it was shown that management of 80% emergency departments were in good situation. In case of manpower, 90% of emergency departments were in average situation. In this study, it was cleared that 50% of evaluated departments were in bad situations regarding space, facilities, and equipments. Average performance were observed in 100% of centers. Regarding education of emergency departments personnel, 80% were in weak situation. In final, only 60% of emergency departments were performed rules of health and education well. Based on obtained results it was shown that emergency departments were in average situations which is far away from development goals of country and ministry of health and medical education policy regarding improving quality and quantity of this departments, so special attention is needed for improving management of hospitals along with more support and funds.
